Project Description

Marta Skorek is a PhD student at the Institute of Scandinavian and Finnish Studies at the University of Gdańsk, and a scholarship holder of the Kosciuszko Foundation (the University of Massachusetts-Boston). She is a member of the Interdisciplinary Research Group for the Study of Nordic-Baltic Europe and the Arctic, the International Ecolinguistics Association and the Network for Sustainable Tourism (the Baltic University Programme).

Following her graduation from the Institute of English Studies at the University of Warsaw (majoring in American culture, history and politics), she pursued postgraduate studies in legal translation and interpretation at the Institute of Applied Linguistics at the University of Warsaw as well as postgraduate studies in the area of the European Union, foreign service, and Public Relations at SGH Warsaw School of Economics.

The Baltic Sea Region, marine governance, marine spatial planning, sustainable (conscious) tourism; ocean literacy, ecological analysis of discourse, and the application of the Montessori Method to foster social-ecological literacy
