SUMMARY:Being SEA-EU Conference in Gdańsk
DESCRIPTION:For the third time by the sea and for the first time in Gdańsk\, Being SEA-EU Conference will bring 9 coastal academic communities together. Join us from September 15 to 17 and experience SEA-EU in a nutshell – or\, more fittingly\, in a seashell.\nCharting the SEA-EU Horizon\nIn both Malta and Cádiz\, the Being SEA-EU conference aimed to showcase the diverse research conducted across partner universities. Thanks to events like these and many other\, scientists from SEA-EU universities were able to establish numerous collaborations\, leading to joint publications\, projects\, and educational activities\, among others. \nAs the second chapter of our Alliance draws to a close\, the 3rd “Being SEA-EU” conference in Gdańsk will be dedicated to showcasing this ecosystem of collaboration\, innovation and excellence nurtured over the seven years of SEA-EU. It will provide an opportunity to take a closer look at the Alliance’s research potential\, success stories\, best practices\, and a shared vision for the next phase of its development. \nAfter the abstract call\nThe call for abstracts for the 3rd Being SEA-EU Conference closed on 30 April 2026. All authors will receive information regarding the outcome of their abstract submission\, as well as mobility funding decisions\, on 15 June 2026. Following this\, final registration will open. Participants whose abstracts are accepted will be asked to confirm their participation and provide additional details. \nAuthors who submited abstracts will be informed via the conference platform and email whether their university will fund their mobility\, as each SEA-EU university decides independently and supports only a limited number of participants. Participants\, who will not receive the funding\, are responsible for covering their own travel\, accommodation\, and subsistence costs. \n\n\n\nThematic areas\n\n\n\n\n\n\nUnlike previous editions\, the 3rd Being SEA-EU conference will accept abstracts aligned with one of five thematic areas specific to the SEA-EU Alliance. Nevertheless\, science remains at the core of the conference\, so researchers from a wide range of scientific disciplines are invited to submit abstracts aligned with one of the following themes: \nEuropean Classroom\nThis thematic area represents a structural shift in higher education\, integrating curricula\, pedagogical innovation\, and digital solutions across partner universities. \nIn just a few years\, SEA-EU has become a dynamic platform for innovative and truly international educational initiatives. \nHundreds of students have benefited from Blended Intensive Programmes (BIPs)\, microcredentials\, Joint Programmes\, and other collaborative learning formats. \nWe invite academic staff to share their experiences\, lessons learned\, and forward-looking ideas that will help shape the future of the European Classroom. \nUnited in research\nScientists from SEA-EU universities collaborate every single day. Whether through SEA-EU Seed Funds\, shared infrastructure\, or externally funded projects\, one thing is clear: our research communities are becoming increasingly interconnected. \nThe 3rd Being SEA-EU conference will serve as a platform to showcase the results of numerous fruitful international collaborations\, joint publications\, and innovative research initiatives. \nWe warmly invite scientists at all career stages and from all disciplines to contribute to this thematic area and to shed light on the dynamic SEA-EU ecosystem of collaboration\, innovation\, and excellence. \nInstitutional Transformation\nCollaboration across SEA-EU partner universities has sparked innovation at every level — from governance and administration to research and academic support. \nStaff Weeks strengthen the skills of academic and administrative staff. Ambitious projects such as Joint Programmes and the SEA-EU Association drive institutional modernization. Working in international teams provides constant exchange of best practices in key areas. \nStep by step\, these actions are reshaping how our universities operate. Together\, they strengthen the infrastructure\, modernise skillsets\, and integrate SEA-EU into the organizational DNA of each partner. \nThis thematic area centres around SEA-EU’s institutional transformation potential and surrounding topics. We welcome contributions from experts in management\, strategy\, infrastructure\, and human resources who have helped shape this transformation and researchers interested in the impact of the European Universities on higher education\, universities and society. \nSustainability & European Goals\nSustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and European values lie at the heart of SEA-EU. As the evaluation of Agenda 2030 approaches and debates on European identity intensify\, these principles have never been more relevant. \nFrom green transition and gender equity initiatives to migration and blue economy observatories\, SEA-EU demonstrates its commitment to both sustainable development and shared European principles. At the same time\, many impactful projects led by our researchers extend beyond the formal framework of the Alliance\, contributing to global and regional challenges. \nThis thematic area invites contributions exploring the role of SEA-EU universities\, cities\, ports\, and the broader European Universities Initiative in advancing the SDGs and promoting common European values — including the rule of law\, freedom\, equality\, minority rights\, and human rights. \nWhat’s Next for SEA-EU?\nEuropean University Alliances represent the future of higher education in Europe. By building transnational campuses\, enhancing joint research activities and working on automatic for students\, SEA-EU is actively involved in building the university of the future. \nThis thematic area focuses on the next chapter of the Alliance and the evolving landscape of European higher education institutions. It invites discussion on strategic priorities\, the current state of universities\, long-term sustainability\, and the untapped potential for deeper integration. \nJoin us to reflect\, debate\, and help chart the SEA-EU horizon. \nBeing SEA-EU!\n\n\n\n\nIf you require additional details please check the Practical Information (FAQ) or the contact sections. SUMMARY:XV Konferencja Komitetu Badań nad Migracjami PAN
DESCRIPTION:Call for Papers \nXV Konferencja Komitetu Badań nad Migracjami PAN \nEmigracja\, imigracja\, integracja w dobie polaryzacji społecznej i politycznej \nGdańsk – Gdynia\, 23-25.09.2026 r. \n  \nKonferencja koncentruje się na procesach migracyjnych w Europie Środkowo-Wschodniej\, a także na badaniach diaspor wywodzących się z państw tego regionu. Ma ona charakter międzynarodowy i będzie prowadzona w dwóch językach: polskim i angielskim. \nOpis konferencji\nMigracje od wielu dekad stanowią jedno z kluczowych zjawisk kształtujących współczesne społeczeństwa. W kontekście narastającej polaryzacji społecznej\, upolitycznienia debaty publicznej i postępującej dezinformacji pytania o przyczyny\, przebieg i konsekwencje migracji zyskują nowy wymiar i znaczenie. Zarówno emigracja\, jak i imigracja – w coraz bardziej złożonych kontekstach społecznych\, ekonomicznych i kulturowych – stają się zwierciadłem kondycji systemów demokratycznych  oraz zdolności instytucji i wspólnot do reagowania na zróżnicowanie i zmianę społeczną. \nCelem konferencji jest refleksja nad współczesnymi procesami migracyjnymi w szerokim\, interdyscyplinarnym ujęciu: od badań nad doświadczeniami migrantów i migrantek\, przez analizy dyskursu publicznego\, po studia nad praktykami integracyjnymi\, politykami migracyjnymi i relacjami między migrantami a społecznościami przyjmującymi. Chcemy stworzyć przestrzeń dialogu między badaczami\, praktykami i decydentami\, by wspólnie zastanowić się nad tym\, jak prowadzić debatę o migracjach w sposób odpowiedzialny\, oparty na wiedzy\, empatii i szacunku dla różnorodności. \nW ostatnich latach migracje coraz częściej stają się przedmiotem sporów ideologicznych i politycznych. Bywają przedstawiane jako zagrożenie dla bezpieczeństwa\, tożsamości narodowej czy spójności społecznej\, co wzmacnia procesy stygmatyzacji i wykluczenia. Upolitycznienie  tego zjawiska prowadzi do jego instrumentalizacji\, w której migranci przestają być postrzegani jako uczestnicy procesów społecznych\, a stają się figurami w konfliktach społeczno-politycznych. Dyskurs na temat migracji  funkcjonuje w tym kontekście jako arena walki o władzę\, emocje społeczne i tożsamościowe definicje wspólnoty. \nJednocześnie jednak zjawisko mobilności nie może być redukowane wyłącznie do jego politycznych reprezentacji. Doświadczenia migrantów i migrantek\, ich codzienne strategie adaptacyjne\, wyzwania i formy integracji pozostają kluczowym obszarem badań\, który pozwala lepiej zrozumieć rzeczywiste skutki migracji — zarówno w wymiarze indywidualnym\, jak i społecznym. Warto przy tym uwzględnić także perspektywę historyczną\, przypominając\, że współczesne procesy migracyjne są częścią dłuższych cykli mobilności i wymiany kulturowej\, które w istotnym stopniu wpływały i wpływają na kształt społeczeństw. \nPolaryzacja społeczna wpływa również na sposób konstruowania ram integracji. W zantagonizowanych społeczeństwach procesy integracyjne napotykają liczne bariery – od braku zaufania do instytucji po wzrost napięć między grupami etnicznymi\, kulturowymi i klasowymi. Tymczasem warto podkreślić\, że migracje niosą ze sobą liczne pozytywne konsekwencje: sprzyjają transferowi wiedzy\, innowacji i kompetencji\, wspierają rozwój lokalnych społeczności\, wzbogacają życie kulturalne i społeczne\, pozytywnie oddziałują na gospodarkę. \nZakres tematyczny i zaproszenie do udziału\nZachęcamy do zgłaszania propozycji referatów\, które w szczególności: \n\nprzedstawiają badania empiryczne nad doświadczeniami emigrantów i imigrantów\,\nanalizują dyskursy polityczne\, medialne i społeczne dotyczące migracji\,\nukazują funkcjonowanie diaspor w ujęciu historycznym i współczesnym\,\nodnoszą się do praktyk integracyjnych i polityk publicznych\,\nuwzględniają tematykę migracji w perspektywach historycznej\, porównawczej i regionalnej (dotyczącej Europy Środkowo-Wschodniej)\,\npokazują\, jak migracje wpływają na lokalne wspólnoty\, instytucje i tożsamości.\n\nZapraszamy do udziału w konferencji badaczy i badaczki z Polski i zagranicy reprezentujących różne dyscypliny naukowe\, w tym socjologię\, psychologię\, antropologię\, politologię\, historię\, ekonomię\, geografię\, kulturoznawstwo\, filologię\, lingwistykę itd.\, a także przedstawicieli instytucji publicznych i organizacji pozarządowych zajmujących się tematyką migracyjną. \nWierzymy\, że konferencja stanie się okazją do pogłębionej refleksji nad współczesnymi procesami mobilności\, wymiany doświadczeń badawczych oraz budowania nowych sieci współpracy\, zwłaszcza w regionie Europy Środkowo-Wschodniej. \nSerdecznie zapraszamy do udziału w XV Konferencji Komitetu Badań nad Migracjami PAN!
