Dr Rafał Raczyński, coordinator of the Migration Observatory operating within the structures of the Centre for Sustainable Development of the University of Gdańsk, has been appointed member of the Pomeranian Provincial Labour Market Council in Gdańsk for the term of office 2025-2029.

The Provincial Labour Market Council is an opinion-giving and advisory body of the Marshal of the Pomorskie Voivodeship, and its main objective is to include labour market partners in the process of management of Labour Fund resources and programming and monitoring of labour market policy at the regional level. The Council is involved, inter alia, in inspiring undertakings for full and productive employment, assessing the rationality of the management of Labour Fund resources, as well as giving opinions on the voivodeship criteria for issuing work permits for foreigners and analysing the educational and professional needs of the region.

Dr Rafał Raczyński is a political scientist, assistant professor at the Department of International Relations of the Institute of Political Science, University of Gdańsk, chief research specialist at the Emigration Museum in Gdynia, member of the Migration Research Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences and the Pomeranian Council for Regional Migration Policy. His research interests focus on migration, migration and integration policies, and diasporic issues. He is the author of numerous scientific publications on these issues, as well as editor-in-chief of the Polish Migration Review / The Polish Migration Review and editor in the European Journal of Transformation Studies.

The Migration Observatory headed by Dr. Rafał Raczyński aims to monitor and analyse migration processes, both on a local, regional and national scale. One of the tasks of the Observatory is also to conduct research on the impact of migration on the labour market.
