A modern number plate recognition system on the Oliwa Campus, pedal boats at the Łączyna centre, and a friendly relaxation area equipped with a barbecue, swing and deckchairs near the student halls of residence on Polanki Street – these are just some of the 13 projects submitted in the first stage of this year’s fourth edition of the Academic Citizens’ Budget. At the same time, applications were being accepted for the Green University of Gdańsk competition – seven projects were submitted for evaluation, including a green patio at the Faculty of Law and Administration and a zero waste exchange point.
On 30 April, the stage of submitting projects for this year’s fourth edition of the Academic Citizens’ Budget competition and for the second edition of the Green University of Gdańsk came to an end.
A total of 13 projects were submitted to the ABO UG, eight in the employee pool and five submitted by UG students and doctoral students. As in previous years, the topics of the projects in both categories were very diverse. The proposals included both new ideas and projects proposed to the academic community of our university in previous editions of the competition, which were not selected in the vote at that time.
A list of all projects submitted in both categories of the ABO UG is available in the tables below the article.
Let us remind you that, as in previous years, a budget of PLN 200,000 has been allocated for the implementation of this initiative in the 2025 edition, divided equally between projects submitted by students and doctoral students and those submitted by employees. The cost of a single project could not exceed PLN 50,000.
In turn, a total of 7 projects were submitted to the Green University of Gdańsk in mixed teams (employees and students/doctoral students). A full list of all ideas proposed as part of this competition, which promotes the idea of sustainable development, is available in the table below.
A total of £80,000 has been allocated for this year’s edition of the Green University of Gdańsk, with the cost of a single project not exceeding £40,000.
A total of 20 ideas were submitted in both competitions. Please note that this is a preliminary list. The competition committee will decide which of the submitted projects will ultimately be admitted to the voting stage, taking into account both the opinion of the dean or director of the university-wide organisational unit to which the project relates and the position of the working group, which will soon proceed with the formal and detailed verification of all submitted projects. If their financial assumptions, description or location require certain changes, applicants will be asked by the working group to approve them before they are implemented.
The verification process for projects submitted in both competitions will last until the end of September this year. The final lists of projects admitted to the voting stage in both initiatives will be announced by 13 October this year.
Voting on projects in both competitions will take place electronically on the Employee and Student Portal between 20 and 27 October this year. The results of the vote will be announced by 13 November this year.
Detailed information on the submitted projects is available on the Employee Portal and the Student Portal under the tabs Academic Citizens’ Budget and Green University of Gdańsk/Submitted projects.
