At the invitation of Marcin Kaczmarek, Starost of Wejherowo, a meeting was held on August 7, 2025, on cooperation between the Center for Sustainable Development of the University of Gdańsk and the local government of the Wejherowo County. The meeting was attended by Jarosław Bach, Mayor of Choczewo Municipality. CZRUG was represented by Dr. hab. Sylwia Mrozowska, Prof. UG, Director of the Center for Sustainable Development, and Dr. Barbara Kijewska, Prof. UG.
The talks focused, among other things, on the social aspects of the construction of a nuclear power plant, including the organization of thematic seminars with the participation of scientists and experts from the University, as well as representatives of institutions involved in the development of nuclear energy in Poland.
Other topics discussed included
- the availability of accommodation in the county for future power plant employees
- the preparation and training of local staff
- the condition of the road infrastructure and sewage system.
The aim of the meeting was to create a space for dialogue on the construction of a nuclear power plant, taking into account the perspective of the residents and local governments of the Wejherowo County.
The Wejherowo County is a signatory to a cooperation agreement with Fahrenheit Universities.
