We are delighted to announce that the University of Gdańsk ranked third among Polish universities in the QS World University Rankings: Sustainability 2026, placing 363rd in the world and 167th in Europe.

In accordance with the QS Sustainability methodology, universities were assessed based on three main pillars: Social Impact – 45% of the final score, Environmental Impact – 45%, and Governance – 10%. The methodology is based on 53 detailed indicators distributed among individual components, including equality measures, education, and environmental research.

The University of Gdańsk also achieved a great distinction in the Environmental Impact category, ranking first in Poland and second among Eastern European universities, which gives it 134th place in Europe and 306th place worldwide. This confirms the high quality of research and education conducted for the benefit of the environment.

Compared to last year, the University of Gdańsk improved its score in the overall ranking — from 72.1 to 74.5 out of a possible 100 points.

It is worth noting that this year’s ranking assessed 2,001 universities from around the world (including 620 European institutions and 26 Polish institutions), which shows a growing interest in transparent reporting on sustainable development activities.

We congratulate the entire academic community — staff, researchers, and students — for their contribution to building a socially and environmentally engaged university. Detailed results and ranking methodology can be found in the full QS report.
