On 5 September 2021, the European Commission published the list of finalists of the EU Sustainable Energy Awards, which acclaims people and projects for their innovation in energy efficiency and renewable energy sources. The prizes are awarded in four categories: engagement, innovation, woman in energy and young scientists.
Among the 12 finalists in the woman in energy category there is the only Polish woman, a graduate of the University of Gdańsk – Karolina Lipińska, Deputy Director of the Economic Development Department in the Pomeranian Voivodeship Marshal’s Office. The committee appreciated the involvement of our graduate in the subject of energy efficiency improvement, renewable energy sources, energy planning and the project of the Pomeranian Platform of Maritime Wind Energy Development on the Baltic Sea, of which the University of Gdańsk is a part.
The prizes will be awarded by the jury and citizens in a public vote which lasts until 22 October 2021. (50% of votes from the jury, 50% of votes from Internet users). The winners will be announced on Monday 25 October 2021 at the EUSEW 2021 awards ceremony.
