“We wanted to create a place that offers solace, invites you to relax and slow down, surrounded by greenery and sunshine, which is why we named our shared garden ‘Zielona Przystań w BUG’ (Green Haven at BUG),” says Marietta Tiszbein, project coordinator. “We planted perennials on the terrace, including hydrangeas, miscanthus grass, sedums, catnip, dwarf mountain pine, lavender, euonymus and herbs. The herbs can be picked and added to drinks or meals, which we strongly encourage. The plants have been labelled to make them easier for you to use.”
In addition, the terrace area will be equipped with comfortable, functional furniture: rocking chairs, parasols and tables with chairs, which will allow for comfortable relaxation. Funds for this purpose were obtained from another project submitted to the Academic Civic Budget 2024. Thanks to the great involvement of students from UGranie – Uniwersyteckie Granie and our librarians, who joined in its promotion, the project took second place.
We warmly invite you to visit the terrace of the UG Library and view the photo report from the joint planting of plants.
We would like to thank all the Library staff, including those from the specialist libraries, who helped with planting the plants and creating the garden.
The ‘Green UG’ competition was implemented as part of the SEA-EU 2.0 project financed by Erasmus+.
