Rarely visit local markets and neighbourhood marketplaces? Or perhaps you never shop there? Take part in a sociological study on markets in Gdańsk.
We are interested in how residents of Gdańsk perceive local markets. In particular, we would like to hear from people who, for various reasons, do not use them. We invite you to take part in a research walk combined with a conversation.
During the walk, we will explore the market space together and talk about the associations it evokes, as well as why some people enjoy shopping there while others do not.
We are particularly interested in speaking with people who:
- rarely or never visit local markets and neighbourhood marketplaces;
- for various reasons, choose other places to do their shopping;
- have never had the opportunity to shop at a local market before.

The research is conducted by Dr Agata Bachórz from the Institute of Sociology at the University of Gdańsk and Dr Irena Chawrilska from the Institute of Polish Philology and the Centre for Sustainable Development at the University of Gdańsk.
The study is conducted as part of the project CONVIVIUM: New European Bauhaus Solutions in Food, Living Heritage and Conviviality.
