On May 7, 2025, the Provincial Labor Office in Gdańsk, as part of a partnership between the Pomeranian Labor Market Observatory and the Migration Observatory of the University of Gdańsk, organized a webinar on supporting entrepreneurship among women with migration experience.
The meeting was opened by Dariusz Gobis, Director of the Provincial Labor Office. The speakers at the meeting were: Kseniya Homel–Ficenes (University of Warsaw), Dr. Rafał Raczyński (coordinator of the CZRUG Migration Observatory) and Dr. Kamila Kowalska (expert at the Migration Observatory).
The aim of the webinar was to present practical solutions for supporting female migrant entrepreneurship in Poland and Italy. Among the conclusions and necessary directions for change, the experts mentioned, among other things, strengthening the visibility of the topic of migrant entrepreneurship in the public sphere, improving the availability of financial support and information on public grants for international organizations, and expanding the availability of support programs in different languages.
The meeting was organized based on the results of the project “Business in a new country: strategies of migrant women and entrepreneurship support infrastructure in Poland and Italy,” (PL: „Biznes w nowym kraju: strategie migrantek oraz infrastruktura wsparcia przedsiębiorczości w Polsce i Włoszech) funded by a grant from the Center of Excellence in Social Sciences at the University of Warsaw. The project aims to fill the knowledge gap on women’s entrepreneurship with migration experience and to develop recommendations for institutions involved in supporting immigrant entrepreneurship.
Experts also discussed the results of the completed research project “Femigration. Entrepreneurial Polish Women in Italy,” (PL: Femigracja. Przedsiębiorcze Polki we Włoszech) carried out in 2022-2023 by the Emigration Museum in Gdynia by Dr. Rafał Raczyński and Dr. Kamila Kowalska.
