On 23–24 June 2025, Warsaw hosted the “Powering Europe’s Future” conference organised jointly by ORLEN S.A., the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the University of Cambridge. Representatives of the worlds of science and business gathered at the Reduta Banku Polskiego to discuss the latest research and development trends in the field of energy and energy policy.

The discussion panels during the conference focused on energy security and geopolitical conditions, decarbonisation of heating systems, the role of small modular reactors (SMRs), the impact of climate change on trade, and the prospects for energy transition in the Baltic Sea region and on both sides of the Atlantic.
Among the speakers at the conference was Sylwia Mrozowska, PhD, DSc, Professor at the University of Gdańsk and Director of the Centre for Sustainable Development at the University of Gdańsk, who took part in a debate on the possibilities for energy transition in the Baltic Sea region. The discussion, moderated by Joshua Hodge (Massachusetts Institute of Technology), was also attended by Saulius Gudzius (Kaunas University of Technology) and Jurgita Malinaskaite (Brunel University of London).
The conference was held under the patronage of the Ministry of Industry and the Polish Presidency of the Council of the EU.
