An international research project “RE-WIRING – Realising Girls’ and Women’s Inclusion, Representation and Empowerment”, in which UG is a partner, has received funding under the Horizon Europe Programme. • Jolanta Mrozek-Kwiatkowska, MSc (project coordinator, Centre for Sustainable Development UG)

The essence of RE-WIRING is to analyse the prevailing legal, political, social and cultural and educational arrangements contributing to discrimination against women and girls with a view to change, through redesigning existing legal, policy and institutional approaches. This includes not only the systems for legislating, implementing, monitoring and enforcing equality laws and policies as such, but also the policies and actions of all societal actors involved – not only governments and other public bodies, but also companies, banks, social partners, health institutions, schools and academia, the media and closer to home, the family and, for example, women’s organisations or religious groups. The ambition of the RE-WIRING project is to go beyond existing doctrinal and political transformative approaches to equality.
