On 18 June 2025 at the Water Monitoring and Protection Centre of the University of Gdańsk (CMiOW UG) in Borucin, our team held a meeting during which we summarised the activities of the Centre for Sustainable Development for the first half of 2025, which are part of the implementation of the University of Gdańsk Strategy for 2025-2030 adopted by the University Senate. This strategy provides a framework for the Centre’s activities.

Thanks to the work and commitment of CZRUG programme coordinators: Irena Chawrilska, PhD, Barbara Kijewska, PhD, Prof. UG, Dawid Weisbrodt, PhD, Rafał Raczyński, PhD, Elżbieta Czapka, PhD, Bartosz Duraj, MA, and Director Sylwia Mrozowska, PhD, DSc, Prof. UG, we organised approximately 50 different events for the academic community and the external environment between January and June this year, including training courses, workshops, information campaigns, seminars, interviews with researchers and study visits.

In addition, we submitted three grant applications, published two expert reports on, among other things, the diagnosis of the situation of migrants in the Pomeranian Province for local government units, and entered into four new partnerships (national and international). Our coordinators accepted invitations to three new expert bodies. We also completed the fourth edition of the Internship Programme, which was completed by 12 students and two volunteers.

We would like to express our sincere thanks to Director Prof. Julita Dunal, for the opportunity to organise the interim summary of the CZRUG team at the Water Monitoring and Protection Centre. Thanks to the kindness of the CMiOW UG staff, we had the opportunity to learn about the unit’s activities and take part in a presentation of its research capabilities.

During the workshop session for the employees of the Centre for Sustainable Development, we also discussed our unit’s plans for the coming months.

We are pleased to announce that the University of Gdańsk maintains its strong position among the world leaders in gender equality and has made significant progress and achieved the highest results in the country in the implementation of Goal 10 – Reduced inequalities. On 18 June 2025, the results of the seventh edition of the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings were announced, which assesses the commitment of universities around the world to the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The University of Gdańsk was the only university in Poland to prepare a report for as many as 16 of the 17 goals of the 2030 Agenda!
