On Saturday, 25 June together with inhabitants of Brzeźno and tourists we welcomed holidays during the family picnic ” Lato temu w Brzeźnie” in the Dom Zdrojowy. The organiser, Hevelianum Centre, proposed a rich programme of the event. Guests had the opportunity to participate in an exhibition of old beach fashion, a piano recital or ecological competitions etc. Patrons of the event prepared their own stands.

Our stand was particularly popular with children, for whom we prepared colouring books and educational materials about sustainable development. For slightly older guests, on the other hand, we offered a quiz with questions on the facts about the SDG goals. How many percent of the world’s water resources are drinkable? What happens if the global average temperature rises by two Celsius degrees? By answering such questions correctly, you could win interesting gadgets with the logo of the University of Gdańsk: memory sticks, volleyball balls, bidons, T-shirts and many others.

First of all, however, our activity at the picnic was an opportunity to talk to the people present there about climate change, global warming and the idea of sustainable development.

Our presence at the event at the Spa House was possible thanks to the cooperation of the Centre for Sustainable Development and Barbara Kijewska, PhD, Vice Dean for Student Affairs at the Faculty of Social Sciences, coordinator of the CZRUG Internship Programme with the Hevelianum Centre. On behalf of CZRUG, the event was attended by: Sylwia Mrozowska, PhD, DSc, prof of the UG, Director of CZRUG, Elżbieta Czapka, PhD, Dawid Weisbrodt, PhD, Jolanta Mrozek, Maria Karbowska and Szymon Gronowski.
