Renewable energy from wastewater? It is possible! Such a solution is used, among others, at the wastewater treatment plant in Gdansk. Dr Aleksandra Pieczyńska explains how the methane fermentation process is used for this purpose. The Centre for Sustainable Development at the University of Gdansk popularises the research results and teaching and project activities of researchers, didacticians, PhD students and students of the University of Gdansk related to sustainable development under the programme “Discussions about Sustainable Development”. The implementation of the project is based on interviews, presentations and popular science articles with the indication of source materials.
The next guest of the “Discussions about Sustainable Development” was Aleksandra Pieczyńska, PhD, Eng, from the Photocatalysis Laboratory in the Department of Environmental Technology, Faculty of Chemistry UG. The topic was Sustainable Development Goal 6 – ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all.
