“Today, it is difficult to imagine the course of any economic process or the record of any social process without implementation of IT solutions” says Prof. Piotr Bojarski in an interview in the series Discussions about Sustainable Development Programme. The researcher was interviewed by CZRUG intern Janina Repeka.

Prof. Piotr Bojarski is Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Informatics at the University of Gdansk. The topic of the interview was Goal 9: Build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization and foster innovation.

The interview covered topics related to sustainability, as well as initiatives, projects and research conducted at the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Computer Science in this area. The dean explained how, in his opinion, the goals of sustainable development can be realised through these three disciplines.

Currently, one of the most important topics at the interface between science and technology is cyber security. During the talk, Prof. Piotr Bojarski pointed out the big numbers – what financial losses does the world suffer from cybercrime?

How much CO2 can a forest absorb? How can new technologies help in the search for traces at the crime scene? The video provides answers to these and many other questions.
