Professor at the University of Gdansk, economist employed in the Department of Transport Economics at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Gdansk. Director of the Doctoral School of Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Gdansk from 2019 to 2024. Member of the Ministerial Working Group on Social Responsibility of Universities and the Commission for Social Responsibility of the University of Gdansk.

Expert in the field of sustainable socio-economic development, with a special focus on transport, transport policy and reduction of external costs, including maritime transport. Author and co-author of publications on maritime economy, decarbonization of transport, energy security and the concept of green ports. Co-author of a handbook commissioned by the European Commission on methods for estimating external costs of transport in EU countries.

Coordinator and executor of national and international projects implemented within the framework of European Union programs and commissioned by the European Commission. Initiator of events popularizing sustainable development, including, since 2017, the UG Sustainability Day as part of the European Sustainability Week.
