On Monday, October 27, 2025, our headquarters at the UG Faculty of Social Sciences was visited by students who attended a networking breakfast and lectures prepared by staff and friends of the Center for Sustainable Development. The CZRUG Open Day was held under the theme “Sustainable University. A campus friendly to all”. The event was co-organized by the UG Center for Student and Doctoral Activities.

The event was opened by dr hab. Sylwia Mrozowska, prof. UG, Director of the Center for Sustainable Development of UG and Łukasz Bień, Director of the Center for Student and Doctoral Activities of UG. The students were also welcomed by dr hab. Małgorzata Łosiewicz, prof. UG, Director of the Institute of Media, Journalism and Social Communication at UG and dr Krzysztof Stachura from the Department of Social Anthropology at UG.
The topics of the lectures varied widely – from the melting Arctic, facts and myths about migration, internship programs for students, collective knowledge creation, and reflection on the role of the humanities in the face of environmental challenges.
Full list of speeches:
- “Svalbard – an account of an expedition ” – dr Dawid Weisbrodt, coordinator of CZRUG’s Education for Sustainable Development program;
- “Migration – facts and myths ” – dr Rafal Raczynski, coordinator of the CZRUG Migration Observatory program, Dr. Kamila Kowalska, CZRUG Migration Observatory expert;
- “Get involved and act – practices, initiatives and more”. – dr Barbara Kijewska, prof. UG, coordinator of the CZRUG Internship Program; Bartosz Duraj, coordinator of the CZRUG Community Collaboration Program; dr Monika Grottel, Chair of International Business, coordinator of the SEA-EU Master Research Internships Program;

- “Equality, Inclusiveness – Collective Knowledge Creation ” – dr Elzbieta Czapka, coordinator of CZRUG’s Quality of Life and Health program, Student Participatory Action Research (PAR) Circle.
The culmination of the Open Day was a quiz with prizes – an excellent opportunity to demonstrate perceptiveness and knowledge gained during the lecture. At the same time, in the rotunda of the WNS, there was a flea market, the “UGreasure Exchange”, organized by the UG Student and Doctoral Activity Center. People could exchange, sell or donate books, clothes, handicrafts and other trinkets – all in the spirit of zero waste.
We are pleased that the Open Day, our first event in this formula, was met with great interest. We already know that we will definitely organize another one. We encourage all students to contact us – both those who visited us on Monday and others interested in CZRUG’s activities. We are looking for people willing to do student internships on our projects or activities in the Student Participatory Action Research (PAR) Circle operating at the Center.
Our sincere thanks go to the Center for Student and Doctoral Activities, which supported us in organizing the Open Day.
