About the studies

The University of Gdansk is launching the fourth edition of the postgraduate program Education for Sustainable Development: offshore wind energy, which is organized by the UG Center for Sustainable Development. This is a study with great potential, training personnel for one of the fastest growing energy sectors in Poland, Europe and the world.

Supporting partnership: Polenergia SA

The study is aimed at people who have at least a bachelor’s degree and are interested in working in the offshore wind energy sector, as well as all those who want to develop their competence in this area.

The study program includes 195 hours. During the course, students have the opportunity to learn about issues such as law in offshore wind energy, safety in offshore wind energy, management of offshore wind energy potential, business risk management, control of energy production in offshore wind farms, maritime spatial planning or offshore wind energy in the energy transition, among others. Graduates receive a certificate confirming the achievement of learning outcomes in terms of knowledge, skills and social competencies needed in offshore wind energy.

Why is it worth studying with us?

Offshore wind energy, as a newly emerging sector of the maritime economy in Poland, is an opportunity for professional development and socio-economic development of the Pomeranian region and Poland as a whole.

The offshore wind sector is meeting the challenges of offshore renewable energy development and will generate hundreds of new jobs over the next few years. The ambitious plans to build offshore wind farms in the Polish Exclusive Economic Zone of the Baltic Sea can be realized thanks to properly trained offshore sector personnel.

Specialized workers are needed from a wide range of industries directly or indirectly related to MEW, including specialists employed by public administration, private entities and NGOs.

Among our graduates and listeners are people with legal, economic, oceanographic and technical backgrounds.  We are pleased to share our knowledge with people employed in the private and public sectors, including public administration and non-governmental organizations.

Who do we address our offer to?

The postgraduate course “Education for Sustainable Development: offshore wind energy” is offered to:

  • Employees of small, medium and large enterprises, especially in the energy and technology sector

  • Employees of public administrations, especially those dealing with energy, energy policy, investment, project management, who want to gain knowledge and skills in the field of law in offshore wind energy, offshore spatial planning and administrative processes related to investments in offshore wind energy, including communication and stakeholder relations

  • Individuals seeking retraining opportunities to work in the offshore wind energy sector

What makes our studios different?

  • This is the only postgraduate program in Poland that is focused on strengthening competencies in the offshore sector with a view to achieving sustainable development goals

  • These are studies of the future – open to modern European and global trends in the energy sector

  • We strengthen soft competencies needed in the offshore wind energy sector, which are increasingly appreciated by employers

  • We educate mainly in: law, management, offshore spatial planning and energy transition in offshore wind energy

  • We create new and strengthen existing pro-environmental behavior patterns and development approaches in offshore wind energy

  • Offshore wind energy in sustainable development is at the center of the issues taught

  • We published the book „Education for Sustainable Development: Offshore Wind Energy,” which consisted of the theses of the students of the first edition of the study. We are planning to publish in future editions as well!
