The publication in paper and electronic versions was published by FNCE Scientific Publishing House in cooperation with the Foundation for Clean Energy, Polenergia S.A. and the University of Gdansk’s special purpose vehicle Univentum Labs.

The scientific editors of the collective work are Dr. hab. Sylwia Mrozowska, Prof. UG, Director of the Center for Sustainable Development of UG, and Dr. hab. Dorota Pyć, Prof. UG, Head of the Department of Maritime Law of the Faculty of Law and Administration of UG.

The book presents an interdisciplinary look at the development of the offshore wind energy sector in Poland – from legal, economic and environmental issues, through technical aspects, to project management issues. The chapters included in the publication combine academic knowledge with the authors’ practical experience, showing how education can realistically support the energy transition and the realization of sustainable development goals.

The postgraduate program Education for Sustainable Development: offshore wind energy is conducted at the University of Gdansk by the Center for Marine Research, and previously by the Center for Sustainable Development. Their offer is aimed primarily at people who are oriented towards strengthening their competencies in the offshore sector with a view to achieving sustainable development goals.

Graduates of postgraduate studies in the area of offshore wind power become not only specialists in their fields, but also ‘ambassadors’ of sustainable development – people who are able to combine interdisciplinary knowledge with practical action and promotion of good practices in the sector”, emphasize in the preface Dr. hab. Sylwia Mrozowska, Prof. UG and Dr. hab. Dorota Pyć, Prof. UG.

The University of Gdansk, by opening a postgraduate program, has set a modern direction for the development of education, combining various fields and competencies. Polenergia Group, as a Partner of the University of Gdansk and the Center for Sustainable Development, has been supporting the project “Education for Sustainable Development: offshore wind energy” since the first edition of postgraduate studies. We are convinced that it lays the groundwork for knowledge exchange, communication and cooperation building“, point out Marta Porzuczek, Director of Environmental Protection and Sustainable Development Department at Polenergia S.A. and Grzegorz Kotte, Director of Polenergia S.A.’s Offshore Wind Department.

PolenergiaPolenergia is the largest private energy group in Poland, consisting of vertically integrated companies active in renewable and low-carbon energy generation, distribution, trading and sale of electricity. The group supplies green energy from its own wind and photovoltaic farms and is developing strategic offshore wind projects in the Baltic Sea with a total capacity of up to 3 GW, which will support the energy transformation of the Polish energy market.

A book of theses by students of the first edition of the postgraduate course “Education for Sustainable Development: offshore wind energy” has been published in 2023. The electronic version of the publication can be read here.
