International cooperation programme

The main task of the Centre for Sustainable Development at the University of Gdansk (CZRUG) in terms of international cooperation is to create an extensive network of contacts with institutions, international organisations and universities that are committed to sustainable development. Through these relationships, CZRUG aims not only to promote the idea of sustainable development, but also to support innovative projects that can bring real benefits both locally, nationally and internationally.

The aim of the programme is:

  • Creating international project consortia – CZRUG is committed to working with foreign partners to create consortia that can apply for funding for research and innovation projects. This will enable the pooling of resources, knowledge and experience from different countries, which in turn will contribute to the development of effective solutions in the area of sustainable development.

  • Organising training and workshops – The Centre plans to organise training courses and workshops with experts from both national and international centres. These events will provide an excellent opportunity to acquire new knowledge and also to exchange good experiences between participants

  • Exchange of good practices – CZRUG aims to promote and implement best practices, mainly within the framework of international university-wide projects implemented by the University of Gdansk. Through the organisation of conferences, seminars and the publication of educational materials, the Centre intends to share experiences and successes that can inspire other institutions and organisations to take action for sustainable development.

ROLE OF INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION BETWEEN UNIVERSITIES TO ATTAIN SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS (SDGS)

T he most important mission of the university is to educate future leaders and professionals who will be able to meet global challenges to which the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) respond.

The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development includes related goals, such as poverty eradication, economic growth, social inclusion, environmental protection, social justice and peace. International cooperation is an indispensable element in achieving the goals of sustainable development, because the threats of the modern world are global.

Universities play a special role in coordinating the cross-sectoral attainment of the SDGs as they are agendas for innovation, economic and social development at local, national and global levels. Moreover, universities and research institutions provide significant support in building knowledge-based societies.

Undoubtedly, a key role in cooperation between universities is played by projects, both research and implementation ones, carried out together with large international consortia. This allows for the creation of new methodologies, the development of common solutions to economic, political and social problems, and the exchange of good practices.

International cooperation between universities also means the exchange of researchers, administration employees and students, enabling the transfer of knowledge and skills necessary to implement the tasks resulting from the SDGs.

Cooperating with local and global partners, with the social environment, European universities and research institutes contributes to technical, economic and social changes. The most important mission of the university is to educate future leaders and professionals who will be able to meet global challenges to which the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) respond.
